Below are the mental performance topics that were covered with players during camp. The main concept presented was that pleasant mental and emotional states help us access higher levels of performance by decreasing muscle tension, improving blood flow, slowing and deepening our breath, improving blood oxygen levels, increasing stamina, and improving vision and coordination.
On the other hand, unpleasant mental and emotional states can contribute to under performance by having the opposite effect. Muscle tension increases which changes our mechanics, blood flow decreases, breathing becomes more rapid and shallow, and our stamina, coordination, and vision accuracy all decrease.
The tools below are simply meant to put our mind and body in a state that helps performance. Some are meant to be used on the field and some are meant to be practiced away from the field. Like softball itself, the more they are practiced the easier and more impactful they become.
